PRAYER & WORSHIP

There are many opportunities for spiritual enrichment available to both children and adults throughout the year. These activities strengthen the bonds between parishioners and nurture our relationship with Christ. 


ADULTS

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION (Eucharistic Ministers) 
Assist the Priest in administering Communion to the Community of Faith. All practicing Catholics who have celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation may assist the Priest. Ministers typically serve not more than twice a month at Sunday Mass and on Holy Days and arrive 10 minutes prior to the beginning of Mass and remain for 5-10 minutes to purify the vessels following the end of the Mass. 

LECTORS
Individuals who enjoy public speaking and would like to proclaim The Word of The Lord to the Community at Sunday and weekday morning Masses are invited to be trained for this ministry. Lectors typically prepare to effectively proclaim The Word through using the Workbook for Lectors to reflect and to practice the readings. Each lector receives a workbook giving the background and analysis of each Sunday reading. The workbook has the same format as the Lectionary used at Mass and also contains suggestions on how to proclaim each passage. 

USHERS
Ushers help out at Masses by taking up collections, finding a family to bring up the gifts, and occasionally assisting to find people seats in a crowded Mass. 

ALTAR LINEN MINISTRY
The altar linens used at the Masses are picked up from the Church every week. They are taken home where they need to be cleaned and ironed and returned to the Church. This ministry is done on a schedule roughly 3 times a year. 


CHILDREN

ALTAR SERVER
All children in the 4th grade or older are welcome to be trained as an altar server. Training sessions for this ministry are held twice a year. 

CHILDREN’S LITURGY of the WORD
This ministry offers the children in grades K thru 5th grade the opportunity to hear God’s word in a friendly and interactive atmosphere. The children are dismissed from the 9:00am Mass prior to the first reading and return for liturgy of the Eucharist. No registration is necessary and all are welcome. If your child is unsure for the first time please feel free to accompany her/him.
